Worship without Word is dangerous!

What followed the first formal worship service in the wilderness was a mix of revival and tragedy. God anointed Aaron and His sons to minister to him. He made a great start by offering the Sin offering for himself and the people, then the burnt offering , then the grain offering followed by the fellowship offering. Aaron after these offerings lifted His hands toward the people and blessed them.

Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting and when they came out they again blessed the people. The Kavod glory of the Lord appeared to the people. This is what they were looking for. It was a blessed worship service as the fire of the Lord consumed the burnt offering and the people rejoiced(shouted for joy) and fell facedown. This is the revival part

Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu is the heat of the moment, took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord . This was contrary to His command and what happened next is the tragic part.

"So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord"(Lev 10:2)

The fire that consumed the offering consumed the young priests! What was Aaron's response?

"Aaron remained silent."(Lev 10:3)

What happened after the first recorded worship service is also something contrary to the expected. Abel was murdered.

Centuries later the Israelites took the Ark of the covenant with them to fight the Philistines.

"When the ark of the Lord’s covenant came into the camp, all Israel raised such a great shout that the ground shook."(1 Samuel 4:5)

Revival was in the camp but what followed was a tragedy.

Eli's sons Hophni and Phinehas perished as the Ark of the Lord(That hosted the Kavod ) was captured by the Philistines. On hearing this news, Eli died.

Worship and revival can be very emotional. We would feel the glory of the Lord but if we don't learn to honor His presence by not following His word and instructions, the most holiest moments can become the most tragic ones.

Worship without the knowledge of His Word is dangerous. Make it your pursuit to know His ways and to offer the "acceptable worship"

" I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."(Rom 12:1)
