Operation Epic Fury
Today is Day six of the unprecedented war in the Middle east. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) commenced Operation Epic Fury, Feb. 28, at the direction of the President of the United States. The Israelis termed this as Operation Roaring Lion. By this time we have seen a big disruption of normal life in the Middle east and the nations of the world. Dubai being the main transit hub had to deal with airport closures and delayed/cancelled flights. The Iranian response was not limited to Israel, but was seen across the GCC nations . like UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia , Qatar, Kuwait . The biggest casualty of this war was none other than the Supreme leader of Iran- Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. As we see no signs of backing down by the nations involved we are in perilous times. The Strait of Hormuz which is the major pathway for supply chain and logistic movement is under the control of the IRGC. About a fifth of the world’s oil is shipped through the narrow strait, which remains effectively closed amid this.
This can effectively disrupt everything. With the "Might is Right" attitude, the rule based world order is no more existent. With UN and agencies failing to contain the onslaught, the question is who will step in to bring peace?
How long will it take for normalcy to return?
For now we should be aware of the challenges that can arise due to this war. The many human lives that are lost and are being in danger in the war zones. We could face the biggest challenge in Oil/LPG as we are heavily dependent on imports. Our exports also can be in trouble as supply chain disruptions continue. As this war continues, it will definitely affect everyone of us and we need to pray that the Lord who "ceases the wars" will work on our behalf.(Ps 46:9)
We need to also pray for the leaders for sound decisions- "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness."(1 Timothy 2:1-2)
In these tough times , may we get help from above and pray much for His hand to be upon this world longing for a healing. (Psalm 121:1)
