October 7-2023 is a red letter day in human history. Two years ago on 7 October, Hamas gunmen launched an attack on southern Israel, rampaging through communities and killing 1,200 people. They took many as hostages to bargain with Israel regarding their demands. Around 140 hostages were released due to international pressure and negotiations. 5 of them were recovered through the IDF attacks. The Simchat Torah festival probably sent the highest intelligence agencies into a slumber mode that Hamas exploited and attacked Israel from different fronts. The two year war and still continues have changed the Middle east. Israel launched counter offensive and its believed to have affected almost the entire population of gaza. Around 70000 people were killed in Gaza and the middle east is reeling under unrest.

One of the main places of attack was the Nova festival where many youngsters gathered. From the Nova Festival website we read the following

"On Friday, October 6, 2023, thousands of radiant souls came together to celebrate love, music, & spreading joy at The Nova Music Festival. On October 7th at 6:29 am, in one moment, the celebratory atmosphere was shattered as a barrage of missiles fired over the crowd. In an instant, the air, which was filled with laughter & love, turned into a dark scene of horror. The peaceful gathering was brutally interrupted when thousands of armed terrorists invaded this safe space, 411 were murdered in relation to the festival and 43 were taken hostage.
Innocence & love, which once soared high on that day, crashed to the ground in an avalanche of shattered dreams."

This reminds us of the incident what David encountered in 1 Samuel 30

"Now the Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it, and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way."

The enemy is still on the prowl. Young and old are captive. The enemy doesn't kill them at a shot. The enemy tries to blackmail, indoctrinate, violate their identity, their faith and their existence . What's different today? Its the same thing - we are captive to our thoughts, ideas and beliefs that has no solid foundation on the Word of God.

David was extremely distressed. He also had to face rebellion from his own people. They were thinking of stoning him. In this situation what did David retort to- "But David found strength in the Lord his God."(1 Sam 30:6).

When life takes a toll on you, take time to find strength in your God.This was the turning point.

Later we find-  "David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled. David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, “This is David’s plunder."(1 Samuel 30:17-20)

October 7 talks to us about a deeper spiritual conflict we all face and let's understand the enemy and his viles. Lets fight it out and recover everything and everyone the enemy has stolen. Let nothing be missing as you fight it out in prayer, love, grace, faith and anointing. May we all be found in His presence!
