Jemimah's Christ and Kapp's Christ!

Jemimah Rodrigues' public thanksgiving to Jesus for helping her to keep going in the semifinal clash against Australia in the Women's CWC 25 made headlines in various circles. The right wing trolls were quick to pounce on her. Faith is private but sportsmen often display their faith publicly as they realise and attribute those moments to God.

The Brazil world cup team displayed their jerseys that read " I belong to Jesus". Who can forget Kaka displaying those lines always inside his jersey.

Michael Chang was vociferous about his faith too. He says in an article-" Somehow, he made some references to my Christian faith and he talked about what joke it was for me to practice abstinence until I got married. Understandably, in a men’s magazine, they’re going to jump all over that. They printed everything that Andre said. When the article came out, people would ask me how I felt about it. I would just explain to them that it was part of my Christian faith and it was part of my promise to my future wife. I was able to respond in a way that allowed me to turn a negative criticism into a positive opportunity to share my faith. I ended up getting a letter from Andre about a month later. He wanted to apologize for saying those things and committed to being more careful with his words in the future. Unfortunately, his book came out and he ripped me again for my faith and for thanking the Lord when I won."

As a child of God we should make use of every opportunity to reflect Christ and His teachings. We should also do it with wisdom and grace and also make sure there is no conflict in our beliefs and character.

The final was between India and South Africa. South African bowler Marizanne Kapp is also vocal about her faith as Jemimah is. Yet there is only one winner in the sports field. This time it was Jemimah's turn. Marizanne Kapp wrote in X, "“The storms of life cannot shake you, for God is your foundation”. I don’t always understand… and I have so many questions… but I know Jesus has a better plan, even though it hurts! Absolutely heartbroken".

The testimony of Christ is not only in our victories but also in our failures. How we handle victories and how we respond to failures. It all reflects Christ.

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."(Col 3:17)
