2026- A call to prayer
Wishing all of you a Blessed New Year 2026
God in His faithfulness helped us to cross into yet another year and we are grateful as a church for His continued mercies and grace. As we move through the years, we have reasons to be thankful that through it all, the LORD has helped us(1 Sam 7:12) 1 Samuel starts with pain in Hannah’s personal life, but the Lord heard her prayers and gave her Samuel who ministered before the Lord.(1 Sam 3:1) This year will definitely be worth it if we start ministering to the Lord like Samuel. When we pray , when we serve, when we are given to the spiritual affairs , we minister to the Lord and that will become a turning point in our life. As our life is transformed , the spiritual decline will be done away with.Hannah’s desperation was also symbolic for a deeper spiritual need. We see that the Word of the Lord and visions were rare in those days(1 Sam3 :1) Spiritual leadership under Eli also was a disaster in the making as his sons treated the offerings of the LORD with contempt(1 Sam 2:17)
The Philistines then came marching against them and we see the death of Hophni and Phinehas. Samuel wasn’t the one who gave in. He rose up and gave the people of Israel a call to repentance. He asked them to devote themselves to the service of God by putting away Baal and Asthoreths. They heeded to him((1 Sam 7:4) The people asked Samuel to pray for them(1 Samuel 7:8). This year may we rise up to be as a people of prayer. May we see hearts turning to God and God answering us by great signs and wonders. The name of the LORD is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe(Prov 18:10)
